SD19 Candidate Obi Ezeadi wins Multi-County Assembly With Overwhelming 60%+ Majority

Democrat Obi Ezeadi secures majority votes for SD19 (Arvada & Westminster) during the Colorado Democratic Multi-County Assembly

April 10, 2024, Westminster, Colorado – On Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, Obi Ezeadi, the second Black city councilor in Westminster’s 110-year history, emerged as the winner of the Colorado Democratic multi-county assembly over candidate Lindsey Daugherty for State Senate District 19,  the hotly contested open seat currently held by Sen. Rachel Zenzinger.

Ezeadi won with an overwhelming 60% majority, meaning he will be on the primary ballot for the June election. Ezeadi secured a higher percentage win than he previously secured at the Jefferson County Democratic Party Assembly on March 30, 2024 (he won that with 58%).

“Thank you to the community for helping us progress our shared vision of a brighter tomorrow forward. But our work is just beginning! The people have shown their dedication to people-powered progress, and we’re ready to give it all we got for the primary in June and show the true meaning of democracy in action,” shares Ezeadi.

With the backing of over 140+ volunteers and over 1,000 individual donations, Ezeadi’s campaign is heavily fueled by countless constituents who are ready to see a non-traditional kind of candidate representing them. His priorities for SD19 revolve around creating a space where families not just survive but thrive with access to affordable housing, fully-funded public education, and a clean economy.

Ezeadi’s campaign to represent Arvada & Westminster has already garnered numerous endorsements from elected officials, unions, activists, and organizations across Colorado. Among these, the exclusive endorsement from House Majority Caucus Co-Chair Brianna Titone (D-Arvada) stands out as particularly significant, symbolizing influential support from a figure deeply connected in Arvada.
